  • garv Pack your day with fun stuff to do & time your meals well. I agree though , weekends are tough to get by... good luck to ya
  • annefood @finaflorence I totally feel ya. In my weekday routine it's much easier to stay on track. @garv 's advice is great. Having fun is a great distraction. If you're out to breakfast with friends, stick...
  • SallyRogers This one is tough for me! I find that if I have one of my splurge meals times during the weekend, I do better at sticking with a pseudo-weekday routine before and after because I'm so looking...

Soda Substitute: What's a good substitute for soda? What drinks?
7yr
  • Lotta I drink water and sometimes put fruit and berries in it :) Sparkling water seems to be a popular alternative, but I personally hate the taste :D
  • DietID_TeamDietitians @RegannePreece - I totally agree with @Lotta. Putting frozen fruit in water or sparkling water is a great way to add flavor without added sugar. I also like hot cinnamon tea. The cinnamon has...
  • bananazen92 Usually, when looking for alternatives to soda, I turn to tea, fruit/vegetable water, apple cider, plain water, flavored water, or even hot chocolate. There are many different types of tea that...

How do you.....

Soda Challenge
7yr
I'm halfway on the 30-day soda challenge. I have some free passes from earlier challenges, so what happens if I choose to have soda on Christmas and use a pass? Does it extend my challenge?
  • annefood Hey @Lotta ! Free passes don't carry over from previous Challenges. If you look on the Challenge tab on your app (click on the orange zigzag arrow at the bottom) you will see how many free passes...
  • Lotta Thank you :) I haven't had soda at all during the soda challenges, so I thought the passes were from earlier challenges, but I seem to have 5 to use for this one :D
  • annefood Yes exactly! 5 slips over 30 days. And congrats for not using any passes in your previous levels! That's fantastic!

If I want to bake something sweet in less calories, what can I do? For example, replacing milk with water etc.
7yr
I've already tried replacing milk with water, eggs with that Semper's No-Egg-thing, and sugar with less sugar or sweetener.
  • darkchocolatepeanutbutter Most baked goods are calorically-dense even if they are made without animal products so it's good to eat an appropriate portion. You can use substitutes for regular milk like soy milk or coconut...
  • annefood Hey @Uber - It's important to remember that calories alone aren't the key to good health. And replacing whole food ingredients with artificial ones can often lead to other health problems, and...

Too much water?
7yr
I've heard two objections to drinking 8 cups of water a day: 1) water can reduce the amount of good gut bacteria and 2) cause your electrolytes to become unbalanced. Are either of these valid reaso...
  • annefood Hey @hobmij ! Good questions. It is possible to drink too much water such that the sodium levels in your blood drop too low, however you'd have to drink way more than 8 cups a day to over hydrate....
  • DietID_TeamDietitians Hey @hobmij! Great question. As Anne mentioned, most people would need to drink well beyond 8 glasses before it can have detrimental impacts to your health, especially if you are counting tea and...
  • darkchocolatepeanutbutter Hi @hobmij! As @annefood and @Rachna said, the amount of water we drink depends on our personal needs so experiment with how much water you need to get through the day. Also may I ask where you got...

Keep seeing these beautiful squash blossoms in the Italian markets!

What's the best way to prepare them?
What's the best way to prepare them?
  • sugardetoxme Flash fry and stuff em with ricotta and savory chives
  • gingerandchorizo Lucky you!! I will stuff them with ricotta and anchovies and lightly fry them with batter
  • garv Goat cheese & toasted cashews makes a great stuffing. Although fried blossoms is a safe bet , light searing or a light roast works well too.
