Avocado kept fresh
I recently found an easy way to store half / part of an avocado from turning brown .
Simply cover it in plastic wrap ( in a nicely sealed air tight manner ) and place in the fridge.

DietID_TeamDietitians Yes! Also storing it with the pit and in lemon juice also works! #kitchentips

Yfalkson Pretty sure I heard the pit part is actually a myth. I think Kenji Lopez from The Foodlab tested it

DietID_TeamDietitians Really?! Oof I'll give it a try sans the lemon juice. I always use both and it seems to work, but a true scientist would say only test one variable at a time :)
Learning how to poach eggs! Anyone have tips?
Made a speedy breakfast with @akhilg2002 of mushrooms topped with poached eggs and homegrown basil (yes the basil is still alive!). Not perfect, but these eggs turned out better than before. I trie...

Is dashi the "new" stock?
food52.com
Who is a dashi fan? I've never made it, but imagine it would indeed be a great stand-in for veggie stock. I always used the box kind (except for Thanksgiving when I make my own) and don't mind it a...

Udi What is Dashi?
Fun fact: organic milk has a longer shelf-life than conventional milk, making it easier to save $ by buying a larger container!
Organic milk is processed differently than conventional milk, using ultrahigh temperature treatment in which milk is heated to 280 degrees F for 2-4 seconds. This process makes the milk last longer...
