annefood 7yr Hey @mfzahir ! Great question. Honey is a better choice than white sugar. It has been long praised for its medicinal qualities, contains antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, and is often suggested as an allergy remedy, among other things. Plus, it isn't overly processed like white sugar, and has a lower glycemic index—meaning your body absorbs and digests it more slowly than white sugar, so it doesn't affect your blood-glucose levels as much. If choosing between the two, choose honey. That being said, honey is still an added sugar, and isn't allowed on the Avoid Sugar at Breakfast Challenge. If you're going to use just a little bit on your oatmeal or in your coffee, take 1/2 a free pass. -
darkchocolatepeanutbutter 7yr @mfzahir @annefood - Average store-bought honey is quite sweet but it's absolutely fine in small amounts. I'd suggest buying a dark-colored raw honey which has an even lower GI and is nutrient dense. Trader Joe's has a great raw honey or even search for some at your local farmer's market. -
mfzahir 7yr @annefood @darkchocolatepeanutbutter Thanks very much for your inputs. I am taking apple cider vinegar with honey as I was told this mixture is good for increasing immunity , improving digestion; not as a breakfast item. want to make sure if this is good. Thanks again
