Most people also add salt to taste and a bit of olive oil for a creamier texture. You can also add spices like cumin and chili pepper, or even leftover veggies, finely chopped. If you don't have a blending machine, you can mash by hand for a chunky but still delicious result.
Basic Hummus Recipe
• 1 can of chickpeas, drained (1.5 cups)
• 1/3 cup tahini (ground up sesame seeds)
• 1-2 garlic cloves, crushed or finely minced
• juice of 1 lemon
• salt to taste (optional)
