I haven't had soda in almost four months. I'm thinking it's okay to have one every four months right or should I keep it going? Also does anyone know any other substitute for soda? I been drinking green tea, but that's getting boring.

Awesome question @reese1990 . And congrats on eliminating soda! That's fantastic! I agree with @garv that you likely won't enjoy it anymore. But if you're worried that having one soda will reignite your desire to drink soda, then avoid it. From a health perspective, having one soda every 4 months isn't something you should lose sleep over. However, if it's something sweet and fizzy you're craving, I would encourage you to try some juice with sparkling water instead of reaching for a commercial soda. I've been adding 1/4 cup apple cider to a glass and filling the rest with sparkling water for a treat. Yes, it has sugar but at least it's 100% juice from a local farm without chemicals, and only having a couple of ounces diluted is a much better choice than soda. Keep up the good work!!

Thank you @annefood. Another question do you have any sparkling water brands you suggest and flavors to try that with?

You're welcome @reese1990 ! I use plain sparkling water when I mix in a bit of juice—any brand is fine. Poland Spring, Arrowhead, San Pellegrino, Perrier, etc. Just read the ingredients to make sure it only contains sparkling/carbonated water. If you aren't going to mix in a bit of juice but want some flavor, you can get naturally flavored sparkling water—Arrowhead, Poland Spring, Perrier all make some that contain just sparkling/carbonated water and natural lime/lemon/orange natural flavor. Only two ingredients. La Croix also fits into the second category. And those are fine too!

@reese1990 - my other favorite is to make homemade ginger ale. I get plain soda (e.g. from my soda stream or regular seltzer), and add in freshly grated ginger, a lime wedge, and a dash of honey or maple syrup. Sometimes I make a big batch and leave it in the fridge so if I'm craving a 'soda' I have it ready. The honey / maple syrup is sugar and normally I would avoid it, but a dash is much less than the 10 tsps in the average soda can, so I don't mind it much. Keep it up!!!
