Do you know what these are? So yummy when they're picked fresh off the rock! A Hawaii favorite.

DietID_TeamDietitians 8yr What are these?!
-
Foodielicioushi 8yr @Rachna They're limpets. A delicacy in Hawaii that's hard to find & dangerous to harvest. They're found on the deadly cliffs & rocky shore lines where the waves hit the rocks like a slap in the face. These yummy sweet bites are picked by hand using a butter knife. Many risk their lives, including myself, just for this tasty treat. They can be eaten straight off the rock (best!), or cooked, even grilled. Goes amazingly well with an ice cold brew. 😍🍻

Foodielicioushi 8yr @Rachna Oh a little Hawaiian for you... They're known here as Opihi. Pronounced Oh-pee-hee. And there's your Hawaiian word of the day. Aloha! 😁

DietID_TeamDietitians 8yr Aloha!! What an incredible story!!! You must share more snaps of the harvesting part. This sounds exhilarating! I'm so glad you shared this with us

Foodielicioushi 8yr @Rachna Thanks, love sharing stuff like this.... They're hard to find here on Oahu, but when we take a trip to the Big Island, I'll share some shots then. For sure!! Have a wonderful day love, aloha!
