Georegulus 8yr Well done!
-
DietID_TeamDietitians 8yr I also started planting today... Well weeding. So nothing to show for it yet, but tomatoes and peppers will be going in soon!
-
Athina 8yr Yay! I love playing with soil and red worms. My veggies are still young but I used carrot top for pesto, it was fab!
-
DietID_TeamDietitians 8yr @athina would love to see your carrot top pesto recipe. Here are a few creations from the community https://www.thefoodstand.com/?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=carrot+top+pesto

DietID_TeamDietitians 8yr @yfalkson I'm thinking of building one of these for my balcony. Any tips?
-
Yfalkson 8yr We got treated wood, so it won't rot outside), these are 8ft long, 10 inch high, we cut them In half to make 4x4 boxes. We then drilled 3 long and coated screws to resist rust to secure corners, and put down anti-weed stuff for the bottom and the pegs are hammered down into the ground to secure the 4 corners. We actually took the grass we removed and used it to fill some bare spots elsewhere on our lawn. Pretty simple and better quality than kits at Home Depot (which we got first, but were junk quality wood and much smaller).

annefood 8yr Beautiful!
-
DietID_TeamDietitians 8yr Thanks @yfalkson. Did you add any rocks or anything at the bottom for drainage? Or did you just fill with soil? Will be giving this a shot. I'm just worried about wind on my balcony so I'll have to get crafty with some mesh or something.

Yfalkson 8yr Mesh at bottom tat lets water out, mix of peat, patting soil and a little manure. Google "container gardening", as I think it can be different, you might need some perlite and more spaghnum moss
