  • cgsegelette Maybe make yourself an acceptable treat, that tastes great! Fruit smoothie .. pb on frozen banana... good luck 👍 you’ve been doing great
  • annefood I did that last weekend too- ice cream. But I got back on track. Dried fruit was helpful. You can too! Great advice @cgsegelette. You’ve got this @shmoozii !
  • ingalls I have to admit, I’ll most likely use up my passes, too, so have been anticipating which will be my weak days in advance. Like tomorrow... we’re making a fancy dinner for my mother-in-law’s 70th...

Any thoughts on stevia or alternatives if the need arises?

  • annefood Great question @ingalls ! Pure stevia extract is the only "sweetener" that is allowed during the Avoid Added Sugar Challenge. Make sure that it is only stevia leaf though, as stevia products (such...
  • ingalls Thanks for the stevia info! Outside of that, avoid all the other artificial alternatives you'd find in typical "diet" and "zero calorie" stuff?
  • annefood You’re welcome! Yes exactly, avoid all artificial alternatives.

How do marinades weigh in regards to eating sugar? ie: a marinade for meat that uses Dijon mustard before cooking.

  • Rachna So there are marinades that have added sugar and those that don’t. Dijon mustard is oftentimes made with honey (which is added sugar) so you can try the same recipe with ground mustard instead. You...
  • ingalls Thanks! Part of the question stemmed from picking up pre-made stuff. I noticed some things are awesome - like salad dressing listed ingredients. But marinades might just say “Dijon mustard” with no...
  • Rachna Yes!! this is a hard one. Once the new nutrition labels hit the market, they will list out the actual grams of added sugar vs naturally occuring sugar. That should make all the difference. Great...

I bought Acme whole wheat walnut bread. Yum. I read the ingredients and saw no trace of sugar before buying.. but then after eating a slice this morning.. I realized that there is 1 gram of sugar. ...
  • Rachna Sounds like half a free pass ;) that’s what they are for
  • trishz So it’s in trace amounts that they didn’t have to list in the ingredients.
  • Rachna So sorry about that - we looked at acme brand more closely and it’s a very reputable company. No sugar of any kind was listed so the 1g was probably naturally occurring and is allowed. If you...

I normally eat ezekiel bread and noticed one of the main ingredients is honey. Are there any breads without added sugar?
  • Rachna Great question @AlexB! The Ezekiel low sodium and sesame sprouted breads have 0g added sugar. They have some malted barley, but it must be very little if it didn't register on the nutrition count....
  • AlexB Oh great! Thank you! I go to the RO market a lot so that’s perfect.
  • teachwitme Wow. Buy me some

  • annefood Glad you found something without added sugar! The one thing to be aware of with Naked (the protein smoothie included) is that they’re primarily fruit juice (mainly apple) and thus have a very high...
  • ElanaG Definitely agree. I’m out of town for work, so I used this drink to recover after a 4 mile run in Denver altitude and 90 degrees 😄 usually I would have made my own!
